Who pays customs duties and VAT on air imports?+
Duties and import VAT are paid by the importer (consignee) in Croatia, unless Incoterms (e.g. DDP) state otherwise. Makella calculates and files all customs formalities on your behalf.
Can I place goods in a bonded warehouse before release?+
Yes, we can place goods in a bonded warehouse at ZAG until you settle duties or decide on further EU distribution.
How long does import clearance take?+
Standard import clearance takes a few hours after the shipment arrives and documents are filed. For goods requiring inspection (sanitary, phytosanitary) the process may take 1–3 days.
